I Reached Out

You’ll have to read Mark 4:21-43.

For Jairus it was, if Jesus can only touch his daughter. For the woman with the hemorrhage, it was, if I can only touch his garments. Our lives should be lived seeking his touch, or reaching out to touch him.

From these stories it would appear that to touch him or to be touched required Jesus to be present, or at least a person’s maximum effort. But the common thread was the faith to reach out to him.

Jesus is not appearing in a town near us, but he is at our beck and call.

There’s a popular buzz phrase in business these days, that of reaching out to him or her, meaning to make purposeful contact with. The thought is that it won’t be more difficult than a phone call. In the case of reaching out to Jesus, it’s not more difficult than a prayer.

This is what Jairus and the woman did, and the effort proved life changing. In both cases, both didn’t seem to “have a prayer.”
