The Dead Giveaway

Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you. All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Philippians 4:21-23

Sometimes I get the feeling, without knowing a person, that he or she’s a fellow saint, or “holy one.” There’s just some strange spirit of commonality. In heaven we’ll know for sure immediately. But down here the dead giveaway is grace, the kind of “grace that is greater than all our sin.” It’s hard to put a lid on it, because it exudes from the spirit of our common Lord, Jesus Christ.

Here saints in Rome (the mother country) were greeting saints in Philippi (the colony). They had a common King, and he wasn’t Caesar!

There were many things Paul could leave with his brothers in Philippi, but of all of them, grace was the most important.

Make sure you leave a little behind wherever you go!
