No Free Lunch…But

17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 “For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-20

Imagine a guy like Joel Osteen saying these words. What kind of “feel good”‘message would that be? Many I’m sure were under the false impression that the law was going away with Jesus on the scene. And gone would be all those pesky jots and tittles. Nope, the law was going nowhere. In fact, they finally had a model for its perfect fulfillment. So if they thought they could never measure up to performance of the scribes and Pharisees, now they had the “author and perfector,” the embodiment of law, in their midst, who could do no wrong. That was Jesus’ point, you can’t meet the entrance requirements into the Kingdom of Heaven without a hall pass from him. So just ask!

    Too many Christians never consider their “entrance ticket” or “hall pass” as you call it. They think they are saved by the impalement of Christ and think they do not have to do any works any-more because they “are saved”. They forget that we received the Grace of salvation for free but that does not make us free to live like we want. We should always keep to the commandments of God and to the commandments of Christ and abstain from all false worship (like praying in front of statues or to people or objects) and keep to Only One True God Who is an Unseen eternal omniscient omnipotent Supreme Spirit Being (and not a Trinity with one godhead who does not know many things and would have died or faked his temptation and his death when he would be God, but that then would make God into a liar, because god can not be tempted and man can do God nothing and certainly not kill Him because God can not die.).

      I agree with this but may not fully understand unless the Trinity is comprised of God in different forms. Jesus did indeed die (gave himself up) at the hands of man but for the express purpose of our salvation, and then rose again and lives today. Jesus was tempted but did not sin, because he did no succumb to it.
