Do Not Dilute

17 But the high priest rose up, along with all his associates (that is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy.18 They laid hands on the apostles and put them in a public jail. 19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the gates of the prison, and taking them out he said, 20 “Go, stand and speak to the people in the temple the whole message of this Life.” Acts 5:17–20

This message came directly from God via an angel. There is no need for much interpretation. The apostles, pastors and teachers, we, are not to shy away from teaching any aspect of the gospel message, which is the whole message of life. What put these men in jail was this very activity, and it seemed this order was issued because the going was to get a bit rough in the very near future. It seemed that Peter was bulletproof up to this point, as were the eleven, having been ushered out of jail by an angel. But to teach only certain aspects of the message would conceivably soften the blow going forward. We can see this tendency today. Just don’t go there and you get a free pass. It is important to harken back to these words of the angel at the very start of spreading the good news of Jesus. It always needs to be at full strength.
