and a shelter from the storm, like streams of water in a dry country, like the shade of a huge rock in a parched land. 3 Then the eyes of those who see will not be blinded, and the ears of those who hear will listen. 4 The mind of the hasty will discern the truth, and the tongue of the stammerers will hasten to speak clearly. 5 No longer will the fool be called noble, or the rogue be spoken of as generous. Isaiah 32:1-5
Those who have been paying attention know that there are nefarious people out there currently plotting and planning to rid the planet of “unnecessary” humans. The thinking is that life on this planet is unsustainable, that we are now in dire straits, having depleted our natural resources and polluted the air we breathe with the air we exhale. It is lost on them how we got here in the first place. They are certainly unaware of the Creator’s mandate to the earth’s first inhabitants, “And God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’” Genesis 1:28
But the honest truth is that we will not see what is described above until the Lord returns and establishes his kingdom on earth. We are ruled at present by fools called “noble,” and rogues spoken of as “generous.” The “royal diadem” is not bejeweled with righteousness and justice. Government does not provide refuge and shelter from winds and storms, and so on. It is incumbent upon us to understand this and seek out—with the Lord’s help—flowing streams of water and rocks providing shade and protection, both figuratively and literally. The eyes of those who see must not be blinded and the ears of those who hear must listen!
Yet as we hastily scramble for stability in these uncertain times, and seek somehow to protect our meager earthly treasures, let us never forget, see all the more clearly, and revere these words of the prophet of old.
And He will be the stability of your times,
A wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge;
The fear of the Lord is his treasure. Isaiah 33:6
Only through the Lord is our stability and salvation, only from the Lord is our wealth and treasure, only in the Lord is our wisdom and knowledge.
And for good measure from Paul’s epistle to the Romans.
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Romans 8:32
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38–39
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen Romans 11:36
