Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16
The Word of God inspires faith, it washes us clean, it speaks for itself. There are no restrictions on its use. It needs to be implanted in our hearts. It needs to take root in our souls. Nothing bad comes from ingesting it in copious quantities. May I be so bold as to say if we knew it from cover to cover we’d be smarter than our teachers? (Psalm 119:99) Most assuredly. Then we can fully expect to be instructed by it and warned by it in all phases of our lives. Through God’s Spirit, it even supplies the necessary wisdom to understand its principles. What’s more, far beyond learning it in rote fashion, it speaks to us through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to the point we need no lyricist. We just need a melody in our hearts. And it always leads to thankfulness, no matter if it cuts us to the quick or blesses our socks off.
