Masters, grant to your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you too have a Master in heaven. Colossians 4:1
The best benefits a “ master” or boss can provide his “slaves” or employees are justice (righteousness) and fairness (equality) in the workplace. Doing the right thing. Not playing favorites. Not ridiculing or belittling. Staying consistent. Providing a level playing field. Giving that which is due. Keeping promises. Not lagging behind in diligence when it comes to personnel issues.
He who leads, with diligence. Romans 12:8
Not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. Romans 12:11
Perhaps the best attribute a boss can have is the ability and willingness to listen.
Paul in his letter to the Ephesians also brings up the impartiality issue (Colossians 3:25) as it pertains to those in charge.
And masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him. Ephesians 6:9
Finally, parents know that idle threats fall on deaf ears. Not following through has devastating consequences. Effective biblical leadership is a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it.
