There is nothing more important to me than the Word of God, and well it should be as one called by his name. It’s one thing to find God’s word. It’s another to place it in my mouth and swallow it.
With the political changes currently going on in this country, it seems that the men and women appointed are having to search for family Bibles on which to be sworn in. Done right, we should be raising our right hand and placing the other over our heart (the center of our being) because that is where God’s word resides!
Taken a step further, perhaps that left hand should be moved further north to over our mouths, where the word should always be at the ready.
This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Joshua 1:8
Interestingly, the Hebrew word for meditate means “mutter.” Not only are we to chew on it and digest it, we are to speak it under our breath day and night.
